1877 Invitation Firemen's Dress Ball, Peekskill, NY


This invitation to the 4th Annual Firemen’s Dress Ball of Columbian Hose Co. No. 1 is dated Nov. 28, 1877, which was Thanksgiving Eve. Although the invitation does not indicate the location, our research pinpoints it as coming from Peekskill, New York.

Named on the invitation are Charles Peacock, manager; Benj. F. Lent, assistant; Jacob Williams, John Cassells, Albert Cronk, N. Conklin, Robert Martin and Seth Conklin, Floor Committee.

Music by Collins was offered.

There is an illustration of a fire hydrant and hose i the center, and a blind embossed seal at the upper left corner that reads “Corporation of Peekskill 1839”

“Tickets, admitting Gent. and Ladies, 75c”

Condition. Very good. No tears or bends. Back is blank. Corners are sharp. Size 4.0 x 2.75 inches.
