A 40 game winning streak ends

On May 11th, 2012, it was the last play of the last inning of the Division III Softball Championship. Eastern Connecticut State University Women’s Softball catcher, Megan Bondy sits in the dugout with her team having 2 outs and what would become their last hitter at bat. The opposing team, having the lead, was the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. They were a pitch away from snapping No. 2-ranked Eastern Connecticut State’s 40-game winning streak. Coast Guard won the game, their pitcher was senior All-American Hayley Feindel.

Even though rain came to Willimantic on Wednesday afternoon, the Willimantic Little League played their game to the end at the Memorial Park baseball field in Willimantic.
